A traditional photographic hybrid-process using oil and toned ink. A silver bromide photo-print is bleached to remove the silver, then ink is brushed onto the print. Each print is unique, although a transfer process was developed to create multiples, there is some variance from print to print. The technique is extremely expressive and as such was a favorite of the pictorial photographers from the early 1900’s through the 1930s. The advent of photo-realism and latter f/64 and their "straight photography" pushed the technique into obscurity.
